BATON ROUGE, La (Louisiana First News) - The Ascension Parish community gathered to remember those who lost their lives to domestic violence, while sharing a message of awareness and hope for survivors.
Feleshia Borskey Young, founder of 411 for women, says, "I was in a domestic violence relationship for eight years, and when I was in a relationship, there was a point, I thought I was going to die in that relationship."
But it was a prayer that gave her the strength to leave.
Young says, "I was standing at the kitchen window, and I said a prayer and I said, Lord, if you give me out of this, I will make an altar to you right here."
Feleshia Borskey Young's story is just one of many shared at Saturday's march — each one serving as a potent reminder that help and hope are out there.
