WEST ALABAMA, Ala. ( WBRC ) - School leaders in west Alabama are now better prepared to place students on an earlier career pathway.

Dozens of school leaders completed the Educator Workforce Academy which was organized by West Alabama Works .

For eight years, the Educator Workforce Academy has served as a leadership course geared towards educators like counselors, assistant principals and superintendents.

The program has attendees visit different businesses and are required to create a workforce strategy applicable for their school or school system.

“It was a wonderful experience. It allowed us to go out into the community and see what is going on in the industries,” said Brooklyn Wood, the assistant principal for Northridge Middle School. “We visited Phifer and Mercedes Benz
