1BRICK, NJ – A political showdown that could have defined Brick Township’s mayoral race fizzled last week after challegner Madeline Iannarone, abruptly declined to face off against incumbent Mayor Lisa Crate.

Crate formally accepted an invitation to debate her opponent, Madeline Iannarone, only for the Brick Township Republican Party to pull back.

The decision came after the Make Brick Great Again campaign posted a statement refusing what it called a “last-minute debate request,” accusing the Democratic mayor and her running mates of misleading residents at a recent public forum.

In the statement shared online, the Iannarone campaign said it “will not waste time legitimizing dishonesty by sharing another stage with Lisa Crate.”
