Horror remakes were extremely popular, breathing new life into classics like House of Wax, Black Christmas, and Friday the 13th, as well as American renditions of Japanese horror movies like The Ring and The Grudge. The aughts were a time, as well, for torture porn, found footage flicks, and low-budget sleepers.
