STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — Penn State is announcing changes in the leadership of its football program.
James Franklin, head coach of the Nittany Lions, concludes his tenure at University Park after more than 11 seasons. That's according to a release on Penn State's official athletic website.
Officials say Assistant Head Coach Terry Smith will serve as interim head coach for the remainder of the season.
The Nittany Lions started the season with a 3-3 record after losing Saturday night to Northwestern.
