ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A man was arrested on Saturday morning for allegedly damaging property at the Martin Luther King Jr. Center, Atlanta police said.
Officers were called to the center in the historic Sweet Auburn neighborhood at around 4:30 a.m., where they found a man urinating in the reflective pool. He was also seen stomping on the Eternal Flame, which represents King Jr.’s “Beloved Community” vision of world peace and equality, police said.
Brent Jones, 26, faces charges of second-degree criminal damage to property, criminal trespass, public indecency and obstruction of law enforcement. (King Center)
