ATLANTA — A man is facing charges after he was accused of vandalizing the property of the King Center early Saturday.
According to Atlanta Police, officers arrived at the King Center, located at 449 Auburn Ave NE, at around 4:30 a.m. and observed a man relieving himself in the reflective pool.
Police said he was also stomping on the Eternal Flame, causing significant damage. According to the King Center website, the Eternal Flame symbolizes the continuing effort to realize Dr. King's dream of the "Beloved Community," which was his vision for a world of justice, peace, and equality for all mankind.
The man was identified as 26-year-old Brent Jones.
