MINNESOTA, USA — Minnesota's exports dropped 19% in the second quarter of the year.

The Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) reports that the value of mining, agricultural, and manufactured exports fell to $5.8 billion.

That represents over a billion dollars in losses compared to the second quarter of 2024.

According to the data, more than half of the decline is attributed to a decrease in exports of oil and mineral fuel to Canada. Officials say Minnesota's largest trading partner in this industry imported 96% less oil from the state compared to 2024.

DEED said exports to Minnesota's second and third largest markets – Mexico and China – also fell by 20% each.
