Sharks cut ties with 2 players after slow start to season

The San Jose Sharks are already making moves.

In a season expected to be a rebuilding year, the Sharks waived two players on Sunday.

Lucas Carlsson and Jack Thompson were both waived, according to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman .

Carlsson is a 28-year old defenseman. He originally entered the NHL in 2016 as the No. 110 overall pick by the Chicago Blackhawks .

He has since played for the Florida Panthers , as well.

At this point, Carlsson is more of an AHL-level defender.

Thompson is also a defenseman, himself a 23-year old.

He was the 93rd overall pick by the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2020.
