Academy Award-winning actor Diane Keaton, known for iconic roles in films ranging from the “The Godfather” franchise to beloved Nancy Meyers romantic comedies, has died. She was 79.

Her daughter, Dexter Keaton White, confirmed her mother's death to NBC News. She said the family requests privacy and had no further comment.

Producer Dori Rath, who worked with Keaton on her recent films, also confirmed the actor's death.

A cause of death was not provided. She was photographed publicly toward the end of 2024, and her last Instagram post was in April , a joint post with retailer Hudson Grace for National Pet Day.

Keaton is survived by Dexter and a son, Duke.

Keaton’s storied career as an actor has spanned more than five decades, with dozens of roles onstage and onscreen.
