The Blue Jays and Mariners haven’t seen each other in nearly five months and a lot has changed since those early days of the season.
Back in May, the Jays had one of the worst lineups in the majors. They finished the year with one of the best. The Mariners had concerns about their bats too, which is why they acquired sluggers Josh Naylor and Eugenio Suarez at the trade deadline.
The Jays had the better overall offence this season while the Mariners possessed the superior pitching staff. The Jays finished with an advantage in the head-to-head record (4-2), but it was the Mariners who won the last time these two teams met during the 2022 playoffs.
