CULLMAN COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) -- A Vinemont man is dead after a wreck on Highway 31, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

Just after midnight on Sunday, Michael P. McClellan was killed when the pickup truck he was driving left the roadway, hit a tree and then an embankment. According to ALEA, the crash happened near the 331 mile marker, about six miles north of Cullman.

ALEA said McClellan was not using a seatbelt at the time of the crash. He was pronounced dead on scene.

A passenger in the truck was injured and taken to the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital for treatment.

ALEA's Highway Patrol Division is now investigating
