About a month ago, Lower Paxton Township officials asked residents for input on whether to continue hosting an annual Fourth of July fireworks display after increasing arrests this year and withdrawal of financial support from the Linglestown Fire Company .
The results are in : 54 percent of respondents said they did not support a township fireworks display while 46 voted to continue the event.
More than 400 residents took the survey, a small fraction of the more than 54,000 people who live in Lower Paxton Township. There were also 46 non-residents who took the survey.
About 55 percent of the survey respondents were between the ages of 30 and 59. Residents 60+ represented about 35% of the voters.
The final tally was 244 votes against the township hosting the event to 211 for hosti
