1Charlottesville, VA – Federal immigration officers have arrested a 36-year-old Mexican national convicted of sex crimes against a child after he attempted to flee following a court appearance in Charlottesville.

Officers with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Washington, D.C. field office took David Ambrosio-Herrera into custody on Sept. 25 after he left Albemarle County Circuit Court, where he had just been convicted of indecent liberties with a child under 15.

Ambrosio-Herrera, who has entered the United States illegally three times, was apprehended after a brief foot chase through downtown Charlottesville.
