QUINCY (WGEM) - October is the month of ghouls and ghosts, and the Historical Society of Quincy and Adams County (HSQAC) is using the latter to educate the public.

The annual Woodland Cemetery Ghost Tours kicked off earlier this month.

Participants journey through the cemetery’s winding paths and interact with historic “ghosts,” played by actors, who offer glimpses into the lives of former Quincy residents.

HSQAC board member and tour guide Patrick Hotle said the ambience, actors, and setting make the walks both informative and a little spooky.

“You’ll see the other ghosts scattered around the cemetery with lamps. It’s really -- kind of makes your hair stand up on end a little bit. So it’s very effective,” he laughed.
