STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A slow-moving coastal storm will bring potentially dangerous flooding to Staten Island and the broader New York City area, with conditions expected to worsen through Monday evening, according to the National Weather Service .

Brian Hurley, a meteorologist with the Weather Prediction Center, said coastal flooding poses the greatest threat from the storm system, with inundation levels reaching 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 feet above ground level in the most vulnerable waterfront areas during high tide cycles late Sunday night and Monday afternoon.
