As the government shutdown is poised to stretch into a third week, federal workers and military members are set to go without a paycheck. President Trump announced in a post on Truth Social Saturday that said in part that he has directed Secretary of War Pete Hegseth to use "all available funds" to pay military service members on Wednesday, October 15.

NBC News reports that the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) sent a notification to Congress that it plans to use research and development funds from the Department of Defense. The OMB confirmed to NBC News that the money will be enough to pay troops for two years.
