There are approximately 225,000 households eligible for city-provided trash service that will be a part of the rollout.

The first street on the list will be “Vista De La Mesa” in the La Jolla neighborhood followed by several other coastal communities, according to a statement from city staff.

The phased approach that begins on Monday will stretch into next year.

“Mailers are being sent to eligible property owners in advance of their new bin arrival. Customers can also easily go online, at sandiego.gov/trash, to see their delivery date or sign up to receive text or email alerts on delivery and other updates in the Portal,” said Jeremy Bauer, Assistant Director for Environmental Services.
