The Gaza peace summit, co-chaired by US President Donald Trump and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, is underway today at an Egyptian Red Sea resort. The meeting aims to consolidate the recently brokered ceasefire between Israel and Hamas and lay the groundwork for a lasting resolution to the conflict.

The summit will also feature the formal signing of the ceasefire agreement reached after weeks of intense, indirect negotiations -- though neither Israel nor Hamas, the main parties to the conflict, will be present for the ceremony.
