BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month and WBRC is On Your Side when it comes to keeping your personal information safe online, including passwords.

Experts recommend using full sentences instead of things like your dog’s name, birthdate, or something cybercriminals can easily figure out by looking at social media or public records.

Kevin Manning, a compliance engineer with InventureIT, tells us to keep your passwords long.

“You want your password to be as long as you can remember. Personally, I suggest sentences. Instead of things like ABCD actually do it was the best of times as your password and that will be more secure because length is what actually protects you,” Manning said.
