Bhubaneswar: An employee of AIIMS-Bhubaneswar was shot dead by an unidentified miscreant in Ranasinghpur area under Khandagiri police limits in Bhubaneswar on Monday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Sudhanshu Khuntia, a lab assistant who resided in Sarkhanta village on the outskirts of the city.

According to sources, the incident took place when Sudhanshu was on his way to work at around 8 am. The assailant reportedly came on a scooter and fired three rounds at him. He was rushed to the hospital in a critical condition but was declared dead on arrival.

Though the motive behind the attack is unclear, it is being suspected to be the fallout of a land dispute.
