Following its second off week in a three-week stretch, Bill Belichick and UNC football are back on the field in Week 8 to play at California .

The Tar Heels (2-3, 0-1 ACC) and Golden Bears (4-2, 1-1) are scheduled to kick off at 10:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 17, from California Memorial Stadium in Berkeley. The game will be televised on ESPN.

After a trio of blowout losses against Power Four opponents, including a 38-10 loss to Clemson in Chapel Hill, UNC will try to avoid an 0-2 start in ACC play in consecutive seasons for the first time since 2013-14. The Heels are 0-2 in the all-time series against Cal, losing a home-and-home series in the 2017-18 seasons.
