Fishers Foods employees were a tight-knit group.

Many say they made lasting friends during their time working for the local grocer.

The 92-year-old business will close its final store on Oct. 14.

Kevin Bacon's got nothing on Fishers Foods in a Stark County game of six degrees of separation.

Everyone in this area, it seems, has a connection to the longtime family grocer. They shopped there, worked there, or at the very least, knew someone who knew someone who worked there.

"It's where everybody shopped," said Theresa Freeman, who worked at Fishers for nearly 30 years, before she left for Buehler's Fresh Foods in 2022.

She's zero degrees of separation in many ways.

"Let's see ...," Freeman said, as she launched into a soliloquy about family members who worked at Fishers.
