GRAND FORKS — The world of aerospace at the University of North Dakota is seeing more partnerships and opportunities for such at upcoming events in October and November. The school has also seen a high number of incoming pilots, said Dean Robert Kraus of the John D. Odegard School of Aerospace Sciences — more than it can take.
Kraus said the School of Aerospace normally aims for 400 new pilots in a freshman class. This year, the number is closer to 600, stretching what the school can accommodate.
“We’re doing our best to get everybody through and to get everybody started,” he said. “What that means, though, is next year we’re actually looking to come down a little bit. This freshman class was a little too big — not to say that’s a bad thing. We’re going to still accommodate everyone that
