Last week, the Danville Police Department honored graduates of a program designed to help residents who have been — or will be — released from jail ease back into the community.

The fourth class of what’s called Incarceration Doesn’t Define Us graduates from Danville Adult Detention earned certificates for finishing the eight-week program during a Wednesday ceremony at the Danville Police Department headquarters.

Five graduates attended the program that provides training and sessions on things like preparing for a job, housing, budgeting, and education avenues.

With the latest graduates — Zecarius Menefee, David Hangelia, Jeffrey Carter, Roqez Whitehead and Wesley Light — 121 have finished the Incarceration Doesn’t Define Us program, a news release reported.
