Weeks before the New York City mayoral election, Democratic candidate Zohran Mamdani is facing scrutiny over nearly $13,000 (roughly Rs 10.8 lakh) of illegal foreign donations, including one from his Dubai-based mother-in-law, according to a report by the New York Post. Mamdani's campaign said it has returned the donation from his mother-in-law. However, several other contributions have not yet been returned.
An analysis of New York City Campaign Finance Board records revealed that at least 170 donations to Mamdani's campaign came from donors with addresses outside the US.
