A young girl who overcame open heart surgery as a baby has died after falling ill at school.

Olivia-Grace Huxter died suddenly following a medical episode.

The eight-year-old was taken to hospital after falling unwell while at school but died later.

Olivia-Grace had battled health conditions during her life including open heart surgery at six months and pneumonia when she was five.

Her mother Melanie Huxter has since paid tribute to her daughter.

On social media, she said: "My beautiful, beautiful baby girl, I can’t eat, I can’t sleep without you.

"I’m so grateful I was able to hold you and sing you to sleep one last time with your favourite bedtime song.

"You were wanted, admired
