JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) - The Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) is investigating two separate crashes that killed two people.
The first crash occurred on Highway 84 in Lincoln County after 9:15 p.m. on October 11, 2025.
Troopers said a 2018 Ford F-150 was traveling west on the highway when it left the road and collided with an embankment. The driver, 63-year-old Melvin Thompson, of Hattiesburg, was transported to King’s Daughters Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
The second crash occurred on Highway 43 in Lawrence County just after 1:15 a.m. on October 12, 2025.
Troopers said a 2015 Nissan Altima was fleeing from a Lawrence County deputy when it left the road and overturned. They said the driver, 42-year-old Michael Lyons, of Vicksburg, received fatal injuries from the crash an
