JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KY3) -A man is scheduled to die by lethal injection on Tuesday for the death of Missouri State Highway Patrol Sergeant Carl Dewayne Graham Jr. in Carter County.

On Monday, Governor Mike Kehoe denied clemency for Lance Shockley. He was convicted of killing Graham in 2005 because Graham was investigating Shockley for involuntary manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident.

“The murder of Missouri State Highway Patrol Sergeant Carl DeWayne Graham, Jr., who was investigating Lance Shockley’s criminal actions at the time, was an attack not only on a dedicated law enforcement officer, but on the rule of law itself,” said Governor Mike Kehoe.
