An advertisement from American Dream last week touted the mall as an ideal shopping spot for the expected rainy Sunday , Oct. 12 — even as the mall faces litigation over its decision to keep retail open on Sundays .

American Dream has been keeping its retail stores open on Sundays despite Bergen County's blue laws, which prohibit the operation of nonessential retail — including clothing and furniture — on Sundays. The blue laws date to the 18th century .

“Chilly days are rolling in, and we’ve got you covered!” reads the email blast American Dream sent out Oct. 9 ahead of the weekend's nor'easter. “Join us this Sunday while retail is open and shop the season’s best coats and jackets.”

Paramus Mayor Chris DiPiazza blasted the ad Monday, Oct. 13 in a statement to NorthJersey.com.
