Vodafone customers are reporting that the network is down, leaving thousands unable to use their internet or mobile devices.

At around 3pm UK time (October 13), the first reports of the outage emerged, with users flagging issues across the country.

A spokesperson for the provider said: "We are aware of a major issue on our network currently affecting broadband."

"We appreciate our customers' patience while we work to resolve this as soon as possible."

On the tracking website Down Detector, reports spiked at 3.24pm, with more than 126,000 people raising the issue.

61 per cent of the problems surround landline internet, while 29 per cent concern mobile internet.

An additinal 9 per cent of people are reporting they have no signal.
