Frustrated locals said they find it 'ridiculous' that they were not told about roadworks that would have shut off access in and out of their road. Residents of Church Lane in Sawston were surprised to find out last Monday (October 6) that the road would be closed for works, overseen by UK Power Networks, from October 20 until November 7.

Resident Jan Nitschke said she was “horrified” when she saw the roadworks sign. She added: “I am a cancer patient and go back and forth to Addenbrooke’s an awful lot.

“I couldn’t believe it when it said this road was going to be closed and we had no information whatsoever. There is literally one way in and out of our housing area.”
