Pays Plat First Nation and Hydro One Networks Inc. were joined by community residents and stakeholders for a celebratory ribbon cutting recognizing the finalization of a series of new compensation agreements between the parties.
The agreements involve compensation for transmission and distribution infrastructure on reserve and on proposed addition-to-reserve lands as the community expands.
Pays Plat Chief David P. Mushquash said the landmark agreements will establish a framework for collaboration to guide the relationship for the next 50 years. He said the negotiation process took more than two and a half years and was guided by the principle that infrastructure on its lands must not only serve the technical needs of the grid but also advance the social, cultural and economic aspirations
