MIDDLEWAY — Dating all the way back to 1734, the town of Middleway has remained a close knit community over the years, even as a flood of newcomers have recently moved into the area.

That genuine sense of community was celebrated by a crowd of Middleway community members, past and present, during the annual Middleway Day on Saturday.

“I’ve lived here my whole life,” said Wesley Weaning. “Middleway Day is so nostalgic for me — it’s wonderful to see everyone coming together like this.”

Weaning spent the day supervising a team of Air Force Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps members from Jefferson High School, as they made apple butter and apple cider to raise funds for the Middleway Conservancy Association.
