SWAIN COUNTY, N.C. —

A man is facing charges after he dragged two people with a vehicle while trying to steal it.

The Swain County Sheriff's Office said on Oct. 9 they were called to a crash on Hyatt Creek Road.

They said they found a vehicle on its side and the driver still inside. Deputies said EMS personnel removed the driver who was identified as 23-year-old Myles Simpson, of Bryson City.

Further investigation revealed that a woman had been dragged by the vehicle while trying to stop it from being stolen.

Deputies said another person who tried to help was also dragged by the vehicle.

Simpson was charged with the following:

Felony larceny of a motor vehicle

Felony possession of a stolen motor vehicle

Felony common law robbery

Misdemeanor injury t
