VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — U.S. Rep. Jen Kiggans joined Lockheed Martin, local leaders and elected officials Monday to get an up-close look at the F-35 Lightning II fighter jet, one of the most advanced aircraft in the world and a major contributor to Virginia’s economy.

The F-35 program generates more than $251 million in annual revenue and supports over 2,000 jobs across the Commonwealth, according to Lockheed Martin.

Kiggans, who serves on the U.S. House Armed Services Committee, tested out the aircraft’s cockpit demonstrator, which provides a virtual flight experience showcasing the F-35’s stealth, agility and communication systems.
