HARVARD, Ill. ( WIFR /Gray News) - A couple in Illinois was found dead in a car just a few days from celebrating their first wedding anniversary, according to police.

Investigators say around 11:45 p.m. Oct. 6, an officer noticed a parked vehicle with its hazard lights on, where 29-year-old Rachel Dumovich, the driver, and Brandon were found dead inside the car.

Harvard police report the preliminary investigation showed each had a gunshot wound. A firearm was found inside the vehicle, according to police.

The couple got married on Oct. 12, 2024, according to their wedding page on The Knot .

After staying friends for 15 years, they started dating in 2022, she wrote, adding that Brandon proposed in the summer of 2023 on Big Cedar Lake in Slinger.

An autopsy was scheduled for Oct. 9,
