The Chesterfield Township Fire Department capped off Fire Prevention Week with its annual open house event.

Families were invited to Fire Station 3 on 23 Mile Road Oct. 12 for an afternoon of fun and fire safety education. Weather for the event was perfect, with sunny skies overhead and temperatures in the high 60s.

Activities ranged from interactive demonstrations to an agility course, a dunk tank, refreshments and more. Fire department vehicles and equipment were on display, showcasing the various skills and services firefighters provide. Kids tried their hand at using the fire hose, and firefighters showed attendees how to use a fire extinguisher.
