SUPERIOR — A police investigator involved in a civil lawsuit against the city has resigned.

Detective Mikayla LeRette resigned effective Sept. 29. Her resignation letter was shared with the Superior Police and Fire Commission during its Oct. 8 meeting. No additional information was provided.

LeRette served in the department for 12 years. She is married to Superior Police Chief Paul Winterscheidt.

In May, LeRette filed a civil complaint in the United States District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin, accusing the city and retired Capt. Thomas Champaigne of violating the Fair Labor Standards Act and her Fourth Amendment rights.
