Through April 5, 2026, the Detroit Institute of Arts ( DIA ) will host "Contemporary Anishinaabe Art: A Continuation."

The exhibition features more than 90 works of fine art from over 60 Native American artists from the Great Lakes region. Artists featured include Norval Morriseau, Edmonia Lewis, Jason Quigno, Frank Big Bear, Kelly Church, Northern Michigan’s own Arnold Shawanoo Walker, and many others.

“This exhibit highlights the depth and breadth of Native American contemporary art,” said Dr. Denene De Quintal.

De Quintal is the assistant curator of Native American Art in the Department of the Arts of Africa, Oceania and Indigenous Americas at the DIA, a position she has held since 2019.
