Loyola University has launched a multimillion-dollar fundraising campaign to revamp its athletic facilities, kicking off the project to renovate 1980s-era buildings with a $1 million donation from an undisclosed donor.
With more than 330 student athletes and 20 sports teams — and plans to add more — university officials say they need better training facilities than the ones that were built at a time when the school didn't have any intercollegiate athletic programs.
The $1 million gift "puts us on a path to significantly improve our student-athlete experience while bolstering the growth of Wolf Pack Athletics," said Brett Simpson, who has served as Loyola's Director of Intercollegiate Athletics since 2014.
