Mayor-Elect Helena Moreno launched her transition on Monday, calling on New Orleanians to apply for jobs in her incoming administration and to "get involved" in shaping its priorities.
Moreno, the Democratic City Council vice-president, won the mayor's race on Saturday by securing 55% of the vote in the city's municipal primary. Her outright victory affirmed a campaign strategy built around the straightforward promise of reforming City Hall so it works for residents.
Infrastructure and functional government will figure into planning by Moreno's transition committees in the weeks ahead.
The makeup of those panels — typically, groups of political and civic leaders who help sketch out a winning candidate's priorities before they officially take office — will be announced in "the comin
