At the halfway point of the 2025 season, Auburn football isn’t in a good place.
The Tigers are 3-3, on a 3-game losing streak and just lost one of its captains. Head coach Hugh Freeze announced on Monday that senior running back Damari Alston is no longer with the program after he “failed to meet the standards and expectations of our program.”
Losing a captain that way isn’t a sign of a team that’s moving in the right direction. After that announcement was made, Freeze was asked about the current state of the team’s morale. He said the locker room is full of “guys that are going to fight their tails off,” but the current adversity will reveal the character of the team.
