Former Fresno State quarterback Trent Dilfer has been fired as the head coach of UAB.

UAB made the move after the Blazers lost 53-33 to Florida Atlantic.

Driving the news: Dilfer leaves UAB after a largely unsuccessful tenure, finishing with a 9-21 record across two and a half seasons. • The former Bulldog was a risky hire for UAB following the 2022 season, given that he came straight from the high school coaching ranks without ever coaching at the collegiate level. • Dilfer guided the Blazers to a 4-8 record in 2023, but fell to 3-9 last year and got off to a 2-4 start to the season before getting fired over the weekend.
