CANTON, New York (WWNY) - Monday was a day off from school and we found some kids who laced up skates and hit the ice in Canton.

Morgan Hetu watched her kids, Hudson and Bria, play hockey.

“It’s cold, it’s expensive, but it’s a lot of fun. I wouldn’t change it for anything,” she said.

Hudson and Bria and a handful of others laced up for some hockey at the Canton Pavilion.

“It’s not good for you to sit around, but it’s good for you to like, move around and play,” said Jackson Peters, who was playing hockey.

“This is, like, more fun than sitting at home and doing nothing,” said skater Autumn Perry.

The pavilion ice has only been open for a matter of days, so this is the first time for many this season.
