An attempted armed home invasion in Miami Gardens on Monday took a turn after one subject was shot while two others fled the area, police said.

According to the Miami Gardens Police, officers received reports about a possible home invasion in the 3000 block of Northwest 204th Terrace shortly before noon.

Police said that three people, one armed with a rifle, entered the home, and as one of them opened the victim's bedroom door, they were shot in the arm by the victim.

The two others fled the scene, and Miami-Fire Rescue airlifted the subject to Aventura Hospital.

Their condition is unknown. No other injuries were reported.

Aerial footage from Chopper 6 showed multiple officers at the home, which was closed off by yellow police tape.
