OWENSBORO, Ky. — Firefighters from Owensboro and Daviess County are renewing international ties by reviving an exchange program with firefighters in Olomouc, Czech Republic, to share methods and strengthen relationships, improving emergency response capabilities.

A delegation of about 10 paid and volunteer firefighters and emergency officials from Olomouc arrived in Owensboro on Oct. 9 for a multi-day visit.

They observed hands-on demonstrations, including fire suppression and rescue exercises, toured local fire stations and joined crews for a shared meal. The group also visited Daviess County facilities on Friday to explore additional operations and discuss modern emergency challenges.

The exchange follows trips in April and Oct. 2024 by firefighters from both the Owensboro Fire Depart
