WOOLWICH, Maine (WMTW) - A Maine man has been charged with operating under the influence after he was involved in a head-on crash in Woolwich that left a woman seriously injured.

The Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office said the crash happened shortly after 6 p.m. Sunday on U.S. Route 1, near the intersection of the southern entrance to Weston Road.

Authorities said a 2018 Ford F-150 crossed the center line of Route 1 and collided with a 2007 Toyota 4Runner. The Ford careened off the road, while the Toyota was spun around and came to a rest in the southbound breakdown lane.

Deborah Webster, 71, of Round Pond, was identified as the driver of the Toyota. The sheriff’s office said Webster suffered serious injuries in the crash and first responders had to free her from the vehicle, which susta
