BROOKFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) - You're seeing the color pink this month to recognize breast cancer awareness.

Marissa Miller, a Brookfield teacher, was diagnosed in 2023 with triple-negative breast cancer. She spent two years away from school battling the disease.

"All my friends, and all the support, I started to surround myself with people who lifted me up. That's when I really started to feel better about my chances," Miller said.

Miller is back in the classroom. Her recent scans have been clear, and she returned to school in a new position, but resumed work with the same students.

"And stepping back in the room and seeing those kids and seeing them again, just it really makes me excited to be back in the classroom," she said.
