The Pittsylvania County Sheriff's Office is searching for a wanted man considered "armed and dangerous" who may have been shot during a domestic altercation in Hurt on Monday.

It was shortly after noon when the 911 center in Pittsylvania County received a call of someone being shot at 3696 Shua Drive, Capt. Gerald Ford, of the Pittsylvania County Sheriff's Office, reported.

When deputies arrived, they found that an "altercation had occurred between family members where firearms were involved," Ford said.

Ellis Wayne Lambert Jr., of Flat Top Cove Road, was possibly shot. The man ran from the home and into the woods.

By early Monday evening, authorities were still looking for Lambert, described as 5-foot-8-inches tall and weighing 195 pounds. He has green eyes, gray hair and a gray beard
